Bluff BC buoyed by advance of two teams in PN mixed pairs
This coming Saturday, the women continue with open singles, two rounds to be played, and note the starting time for the first round will be 12.30pm.

THIS weekend saw the continuation of the Port Natal mixed pairs and on Sunday morning there were three teams from Bluff Bowling Club still in contention.
Unfortunately Robert Mhlongo and Glynis Mackrory lost their battle against Ian Oehley and Sharon McLaughlin from Hillary.
The other two teams proceeded to the afternoon games and the club is proud to announce that Robbie Johnston and Daphne Reinhardt beat John and Linda Didlick also from Hillary, while Clinton and Sarie Bisset won against Kevin Motley and Cheryl Lessing from Westville. Thus they will continue the competition next Sunday at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club. It was good to have two sides still in contention in a very strong competition. The club wishes them good bowling.
Midweek league is still being played, with round five this coming Wednesday. The teams have mixed results and the competition is still wide open. There will be one section of women playing at home this week.
The district men’s league began on Saturday. The A side came away from Queensburgh with two points. Next week this side will again be away, this time to Durban B. The B side played at home against Chiltern Park and also scored two points. This side will also be away next week to Chatsworth A side.
There was great excitement at the club on Friday evening when Dave Richardson won the attendance draw of R1,080. The prize will start again at R180 this Friday. A meat raffle was won by Glynis Mackrory. Go along, enjoy the laughs and stand to win prizes.
The women selectors have been busy and the selection for the women’s league has been made. The names will be on the board soon. Congratulations to those selected.
On Saturday the women played nominated pairs competitions and Lilah Nel and Ronel Morel were successful against June Foster and Phyllis Maritz. Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset beat Elize Stapelberg and Jay Retief, while Janice Rodgers and Dawn Spack beat Bridget White and Glynis Mackrory.

Due to the men’s league, there will be no men’s competitions on Saturday.
In the monthly DJ Lashrite tournament, first session went to John and Colin, while second session was won by Jerry and Dave. Overall winners were Greg and Eddy on four plus 13. The 50/50 board was won by Phil and Elize won the raffle.
This Thursday is the Diving Bell pairs, a popular and relaxed monthly tournament with good prizes. There is room for a few more pairs, in any format.
Deon Maritz is home from hospital after another operation and the club wishes him a speedy recovery and hopes this is the end of his problems. The club is also pleased to report that Dudley Dorrofield’s eye operation has been a success and he will once again be able to keep a keen look-out for the birds. Greg Dorrofield is congratulated on the birth of his first grandchild.
