Bluff bowlers note PN fixture changes

Club competitions will take a break for a few weeks now as both the men and the women will be involved in Port Natal league from this coming Saturday.

DUE to circumstances beyond the club’s control, Port Natal has made a number of changes to their fixture list.

The mixed pairs, which was a much-anticipated event for Bluff Bowling Club, was held on Sunday, 29 May.

The qualifying masters, which also affects members, has been moved to Saturday and Sunday, 9 and 10 July. Both the men and women’s final day of league will be Sunday, 26 June.

Despite the sudden change of date for the mixed pairs, it was good to see how many members turned out in support of Robbie Johnston and Daphne Reinhardt who played in the semi final. They achieved a bronze and the club is extremely proud of them. These two players are among Bluff’s most senior members, but held their own all the way. A terrific example of good bowling to younger members, not only with their bowls but also their etiquette both on and off the green.

Friday night’s attendance draw once again saw Wayne Ingle’s name come out the hat, but as he was not present, the jackpot rises to R540 for next week. The raffle was won by Cheryl Bower.

On Saturday Judy Marais beat Deirdre Koekemoer in point singles and Dawn Spack beat Daphne Reinhardt in senior singles. The men played drawn pairs and Greg Dorrofield and Brian Osman beat Spider Williams and Noel Morel, Chris Pozyn and Ryan Warren beat Allan Ritchie and Micheal Schudel, Clinton Bisset and Hilton Lassak beat Dudley Dorrofield and Deon Maritz, and Dave le Roux and Steve Baker beat Robert Mhlongo and Harvey Simpkins.

Club competitions will take a break for a few weeks now as both the men and the women will be involved in Port Natal league from this coming Saturday. The men’s A side will be away to Northlands A side and the B side will be at Hillcrest, meeting their C side. The women’s league starts off with the A side being away at Parkhill against Amanzimtoti. The B side will travel to La Domaine to play against the hosts.

Friday, 3 June is the monthly 3-2-1 killer for the men. This competition is sponsored by June Foster and Eddie Human. On the same day but in the evening there will be a game evening at the club. Go along to find out what game.

Remember 1 July is when the club will hold the ever popular vegetable derby.
