Plodders win the day in Woodlands mixed drawn fours

LAST week started off with the ‘any pairs’ competition played on Wednesday at Woodlands Bowling Club.
Second session winners were Ken Koch and Ellen Loots on 2+14.
Overall winners were Jumbo Nel and Robbie Carr on 4+24. Gloria Rice scooped the R40 money board as well as the meat raffle with Ellen Loots taking the dregs of R20 from the money board. Drawn prizes went to skip – Ken Thomas and lead – Eileen du Plessis.
On Thursday was the casual fours breakfast. Second session winners were Rina Harper, Norman Moore, Arnie Harper and Linda Hewer on 2+14. Overall winners were Rob Carr, Jumbo Nel, Bill Hewer and William Richardson on 4+14. Dawn Spack walked away with the meat raffle. Ann Bonchone and Kurt Spack snatched the R40 money board, leaving Linda Hewer and Joanne Jordaan taking the crumbs of R20 each. Drawn prizes went to skip – Bob Hayward, third – Ken Koch, second – Gwen Tait and lead Joanne Jordaan.
On Saturday in much cooler weather, the mixed drawn fours were played between Harold Dix and Gloria Rice and their teams. Gloria and her team were way ahead against Harold and his team, but they plodded along and slowly picked up points and in the end, Harold and his team beat Gloria and her team 15-13, in a fun-filled game with lots of laughter.
