League fixtures start for Bluff BC women

In men’s open singles competition Robert Mhlongo beat Dudley Dorrofield

AFTER last weekend’s inclement weather, Bluff Bowling Club greens were busy this week.

On Thursday, the Acutts any pairs was won by Chris Pozyn and William on a 4+2.

First session went to Ken Thomas and Julia on 2+8, the second session to Brian and Paula Osman also on a 2+8, the board was won by Dudley Dorrofield and the raffle winners were Chris Pozyn and Colin Nicholas.

On Saturday five club competitions were played, the main one being the women’s fours finals where the winners are Janice Rodgers, Daphne Reinhardt, Phyllis Maritz and Paula Osman who beat Bridget White, Lilah Nel, Chrissie Smith and Deidre Koekemoer. In the women’s novice singles Louise du Plessis beat Cheryl Bower. The final is yet to be played.

In men’s open singles competition Robert Mhlongo beat Dudley Dorrofield, and in a pairs game Clinton Bisset and Dave Lavis beat Dave Le Roux and Mouse Ratcliffe.

On Sunday the Dudley and Brian Bluff any pairs were played. Winners were Gary Moffat and Deon Els on 4+29, first session went to June Foster and Dudley Dorrofield on 2+14 and second session was won by Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset. The board went to Ken Thomas and the raffle to Jorge Santos.

This Saturday sees the start of the women’s league with the A team playing against Northlands A in Durban and the B team playing NorthlandsC at home.

The men’s league continues with the A team away and the B team at home. All club members are requested to check the boards to see where they are playing.

Members are asked to keep Friday, 23 June open as the club hosts the annual vegetable derby that evening.
