AFTER having a month’s break, there has been quite a start to the Woodlands Bowling Club monthly competitions.
On Wednesday, the any pairs competition had a good turnout.
Second session winners were Gloria Rice and Sonia Moore on 2+9 and overall winners were Terry Micholson and Dave Carroll on 4+14. Kurt Spack won the meat raffle thanks to Spar Yellowwood Park. Honey snapped up the R40 money board, with Dawn Spack grabbing the R20. Drawn prizes went to skip Linda Hewer and lead Lynn Carlyle.
Thursday dawned overcast for the breakfast fours competition but the sun soon popped out and another lovely winter day was here with another good turnout of bowlers.
Second session winners were Ron Farnham, Brendan Hezlett, Pierre Viviers and Philip Paillard from Hillary Bowling Club. It was good to see new faces, thanks for all the visitors joining in. Second session winners were Robin de Gouveia, Margaret Walters, Ann Bonthrone and Honey from Wentworth Bowling Club. Margaret Walters won the meat raffle, which was sponsored by CS Solutions. Jumbo and Ann Bonthrone scooped the R40 money board with Syd Margetts and Margaret Walters snatching the R20.
Club champions Rina Harper and Andy Cloete played in the first round of the Champions of Champions on Saturday but unfortunately they didn’t win all three their games to go through to the next round. Andy was knocked out in the first round but well done to him for trying so hard. Rina was knocked out in the second round, so well done to Rina too.
