Woodlands BC duo knocked out of pairs bowls contest

UNFORTUNATELY both Woodlands Bowling Club novices namely Jason Hewer and Gavin Conlon lost in the first round of the novice pairs held last weekend.

On Saturday there were four club competitions played.

The women nominated pairs game which was not finished last year due to strong winds, was completed on Saturday, with Gloria Rice and Linda Hewer beating Rina Harper and Lynn Carlyle with a score of 19-14.

Then in the women’s drawn pairs Rina Harper and Lynn Carlyle beat Gloria Rice and Linda Hewer on 21.14. The first two games of mens’s singles started, with Andy Cloete playing against Dave Lloyd. Andy was the victor on 21-12. The second game played between Norman Moore and Jason Hewer went to 30 ends. Norman led 20-10 and Jason was just not giving up. He slowly crept up until they were both on 20 points each and in the last end, Jason was holding two shots and Norman had the last bowl and drew the winning shot, to win 21-20.
