These dedicated karatekas showcased their skill, discipline, and spirit of South African karate.
Shihan Craig Pillay, head of the Ninfu Shito-Ryu Dojo, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement.

“It was a great honour for these young development athletes to represent their country. Their hard work and dedication really paid off. Karate has taken these children throughout South Africa and now into Africa. They have a bright future ahead, and we are very proud of all that they have achieved.”
He said the competition was fierce, drawing top-level athletes from across Africa, yet the Ninfu team rose to the challenge.
“Each of the four competitors gave their all, performing admirably in both kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) divisions. Their composure, focus and fighting spirit stood as a testament to the hours of training and preparation they put in,” said Pillay.

Beyond medals and rankings, this experience marked an important milestone in their karate journey.
“For these young athletes, karate is more than a sport, it’s a way to express themselves, build confidence and learn valuable life lessons about perseverance, respect and teamwork. Karate is a great outlet for children to express themselves and build confidence. These four youngsters are living proof of that. They’ve shown that with discipline and belief, anything is possible,” he added.
The Ninfu Shito-Ryu Karate Dojo continues to nurture young talent and develop future champions, not only for competition but for life.
