White will once again take on some of the best bowlers in the country at the tournament which is slated for early March.

Beginning her career

She began her journey in bowls as a way to stay in shape, but soon that changed as she developed an unknown passion for the sport.

“I started bowling about 22 years ago to keep active. The following year, I knew I wanted to compete in major tournaments,” said White.

Her hard work paid off in 2012 when she made the district team for the first time, and she’s been on it ever since. White started initially as a second, then moved to third and for the past five years, she’s been the team’s skip.

Reflecting on the challenges that the district level brings, White said it is always tough, and each event has its own difficulties. She added that this year she has practised almost every Saturday morning in preparation.

Supporting Bridget

While this is yet another amazing opportunity for White, the financial hurdle stops her from continuing her passion. If anyone can help cover White’s trip to the districts, they can contact her on ‪063 649 9749.

Upcoming Bluff Bowling Club fundraiser

The Bluff Bowling Club will also host a fundraising tournament for White at the club on February 21.  An entry fee of R50 will go towards White’s trip. For entry contact Lisa Micholson on 071 849 3042.
