FRIDAY TO SUNDAY, 21 TO 23 SEPTEMBER: The Heritage Day long weekend sees the 2018 edition of the SA Softball masters championships take place at Durban’s Hoy Park daily from 8am to 6pm. Masters club teams representing provinces from across South Africa and Botswana will compete. Watch the stars from yester-year compete for top honours once more. SUNDAY, 23 SEPTEMBER: Every Sunday, the Visually Impaired Bowlers Association has its weekly bowling afternoon at Berea Bowling Club in Durban from 1pm to 4pm. Blind and partially sighted people who are prepared to join this association can look forward to an afternoon of fun and fellowship playing bowls. MONDAY, 24 SEPTEMBER: Yellowwood Park WI’s monthly meeting takes place at Yellowwood Park Bowling Club from 7pm, despite the public holiday. TUESDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER: Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa, in partnership with Life Entabeni Hospital, holds a Mended Hearts meeting at 2.30pm. Guest speaker Dr Sherona Rawat is a clinical psychologist at Life Entabeni Hospital who will talk about ‘Heart Awareness Month: A closer look at factors which put us at risk for heart disease’. FRIDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER: Grosvenor Girls High School hosts a wet and wild Spring break event on the school field from 8am to 4pm. The cost is R10 for non-riders and R100 for riders. TUESDAY, 2 OCTOBER: Stainbank WI meets at Woodlands Sport Club at 9.30am. The WI welcomes all visitors who would like to meet up for a fun-filled morning and it looks forward to many entries for the competitions from members. The charity will be the Salvation Army. WEDNESDAY, 10 OCTOBER: Montlands sub-sector forum AGM will take place at Montclair recreation hall at 6.30pm. All residents, community based organisations, businesses, educational institutions and NGOs are urged to participate in the sub- forum structure to bridge the gap between the local police and the community, addressing criminality in the local area.
