Johannesburg Retired Teachers Association donates to Footprints Hospice

Johannesburg Retired Teachers Association (JORETA) Orlando West Branch donated toiletries to Footprints Hospice in Orlando East last Tuesday.

Johannesburg Retired Teachers Association (JORETA) Orlando West Branch donated toiletries to Footprints Hospice in Orlando East last Tuesday.

JORETA is a collective of retired teachers who believe that just because they are retired it does not mean they have to sit and do nothing.

“We came here today to assist as we feel that Footprint Hospice is doing a great job looking after sick. We decided to come to the hospice to ask what it was that they are in need of, and we were told that they spend a lot of money on toiletries so we decided to assist,” said Baxolile Zwane.

She encouraged others to also give what they can to Footprints as they a doing a good job and they need all the help they can get.

“We as an organisation don’t have much but we felt it was important for us to do something. We are all retired teachers and we feel that we can still make a difference in our community,” she said.

Zwane encourages other retired teachers to join their organisation as they still have a lot to offer to their community.

Aurelia Gxabi from Footprint Hospice said that she is thankful for the donation.

She said that they can spend the money allocated for toiletries on other things for this month.

“Such donations make a big difference to us, we are able to save money and take care of other expenses. I urge more residents to come and assist us as we need all the help we can get,” she said.
