Mixed emotions about the passing of Mandela

Residents remember Tata.

The passing of the former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela has left many residents shocked and with mixed emotions.

Some residents alleged that their lives won’t be the same again without this humanitarian who fought for the freedom of this country.

Kwaito legend Arthur Mafokate said Mandela has transformed the lives of many people.

“There are lots of people who have contributed much from this man, to me personally he has been a father, brother, uncle, friend and grandfather.

“I remember the first time I met him in 1996 while performing at an ANC event and he told me that I must continue developing other young children in the township because I have a talent and I must share it with others, so I will miss him dearly.:

Re Phetse Organisation founder director Tshepo Moloi said: “There is no South Africa without Mandela, he created this country to be what it is today, his legacy will leave on for many years to come.”

Another resident Bongani Phakathi said: “I wished that he would have been provided with many more years to live, he had done a lot and still had so much to offer to the country and us as ordinary residents, he was the man who would inspire you with his work and words, but he is gone and we must accept and continue to be united and with one common vision which is to develop South Africa to a country we all dream of.”
