False cases won’t be tolerated
Opening of false cases can lead to arrest and jail time.
“Opening of false cases is a crime and can lead to arrest and conviction,” Victor Olivier warns.
He says there has been a trend of false cases being opened by suspects who attempt to avoid arrest.
“One would find that the person who robbed someone is opening a case of robbery before the actual victim.
“This action constitutes as a criminal offence – defeating the ends of justice,” Olivier said.
Not only do false cases push up the crime stats they also hamper police from attending to serious crimes.
There have cases where people have claimed their houses have been broken into or their cars stolen but upon further investigation, it is found that no such incidents occurred.
Such cases also affect the unemployment rate in Eldorado Park, Olivier said.
“Now people are getting unnecessary criminal records and because of that they cannot get jobs,” Olivier said.
He urges guilty parties to put an end to opening false cases.
