Primary School in Jabavu is celebrating its 60 years inception day

Honouring one of the monumental schools in Jabavu.

Makola Primary School is turning 60 years old this year. On July 22 the Phuthanang Youth Trust (PYT) hosted a celebration to honour the school, which was recently named after its first principal.

Swazi Ngwenya a Grade six pupil from the school played the violin to entertain the attendees of the celebration.

Peter Kopani from PYT said, “We were urged to help the school since its one of the monumental primary schools in Jabavu.”

A Grade R teacher at the school, Innocentia Serame said, “I’m excited that this day has come and the school is grateful about receiving the recognition.”

Serame said events like these play a big role in motivating the pupils.

The chairperson of PYT which was one of the sponsors of the 60th birthday celebration of the school, Modise Motloba said, “Phuthang was formed in Jabavu for the community of Jabavu, and deals with socio-economic challenges. We are here to showcase what the school has achieved.”

Motloba was once a pupil in the school, he said, it is Imperative that we inspire all the teachers, pupils and principals of the school so they continue doing a good job.
