DA accuses ANC members of disruption
Parties continue electioneering and making promises to citizens as Election Day nears.
Despite the alleged demonstration by ANC members of blockading roads to prevent the Democratic Alliance from canvassing at Dzana Street in Dobsonville – the DA delegation remains adamant it will win the hearts of most people come August.
DA Candidate elect Nonhlanhla Sifumba said: “The conduct of ANC in Dobsonville today (July 23) confirmed that it is no longer the ANC of Nelson Mandela.
“While myself and DA Mayoral Candidate Herman Mashaba with Johannesburg Regional Chairperson Khume Ramulifho were interacting with potential voters during a walkabout, members of the ANC blockaded the road in Dzana Street making it impossible for the DA delegate and campaign bus to go through,” she said.
“Nonetheless, DA’s mini match continued swiftly following the incident with more and more residents in Dobsonville who witnessed the incident condemning it.
“The march is a build up to the ‘We can win’ rally to be held on July 30 at Dobsonville Stadium at 9am,” said Sifumba.
ANC councillor in Ward 48, Jacquire Lekgetho said: “I can confirm that ANC members in Dobsonville left in the morning at about 9am for a rally at Thokoza Park.
“If there were insults thrown to them, it was not ANC members because they were attending a rally.
“It could have been some residents and not ANC members – this clearly demonstrates desperation from the DA,” she said.
