Newclare Primary School: A century of education
"I am proud of the teachers that have put in the effort and I am proud of the 100 Year Centenary Committee"
In celebration of a century in education, Newclare Primary School presented a 100th birthday Musical Extravaganza.
On August 18 and 19, parents, educators, and learners had the opportunity to engage in a spectacle of ‘music through the ages,’ as Newclare Primary School learners from Grades R to Seven showcased their dance and singing talent.
“Thank you to the Almighty for the talent,” said Mrs. Areff during her vote of thanks.
Attendees were taken through time as musical renditions inspired by the cultures of the 70s, 80s and early 2000s set the stage alight.

From Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ to Bhizer’s ‘Gobisiqolo’ it was a showcase of old school with a flash of new school.
“The children were excellent. They were absolutely spot-on. In every act, they really raised the bar.” said Principal Derek Eastwood. It was a sold out show as loved ones came out in their numbers to show their support.
“I am proud of the teachers that have put in the effort and I am proud of the 100 Year Centenary Committee,” he continued.
“The music concert formed part of the school’s third-term centenary celebrations, in honour of the rich heritage and community prevalence of the primary school.

Helen Petersen, concert coordinator and Grade Seven head of department expressed her praise for the learners and their performances.
“We are so proud of them,” she said.
Established in 1917, Newclare Primary School first hosted a total of nine students. It now boasts a diverse and culturally descendant student body.
Following the end of the concert, parents, educators, performers, and contributors were thanked for their immense support and contribution towards the show. It was a huge success as parents and supporters were left proud and learners excited.
