The Tlakukani Care for the Elderly kept it literally moving till their award ceremony and the gogo’s are still going strong.
The Care for the elderly Organisation is very active and outgoing; the elderly ladies consists of pensioners in their late sixties going up who jog, run, play soccer and tend to a few food gardens in the community.
The leader of the Gogo’s, Gogo Chabi Baloyi said, “These activities give us energies and help get rid of all the household stress we face as mothers, grandparents, and guardians.”
The care for the elderlies is where the elderly people meet one another and support one another, like Gogo Sheila Mtlane who took part in the last walk the group did before their award ceremony, she said, “Being part of Tlakukani Care for the Elderlies has really helped me a lot because I do not have to go for regular and consistent check-ups no more, my health is well balanced.”
Gogo Mtlane explained that now she gets to be with the other gogos and this helps her get rid of all of her domestic stress and how the group of gogos has become part of her life.

The leader of the organisation, Chabi Baloyi was thrilled to see the last event flow without any interruptions; she cited Khomanani Primary School and the principal for welcoming them with warm hands.
Amanda Baloyi, Chabi’s Baloyi’s loyal and faithful daughter went to the school to support after the elders walked a few kilometres in Diepkloof under the watchful eye of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department.
The care for the elderly will be operating, as usual, this year and elderly people who are interested in joining the group to keep healthy and fit can visit Khomanani Primary School for more details.
