Man gunned down in Eldorado Park

Police urge anyone with information to come forward.

A man was killed during what looked like a drive-by shootout in Eldorado Park Ext 2 yesterday afternoon. The incident happened along the Golden Highway around 13:30 pm.

It is alleged that a passerby called the police to relate what had happened. The caller reported that the victim was shot multiple times at the traffic lights at Union Road and Golden Highway.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the victim succumbed to the multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim’s body was found in a white VW GTI. According to police, the suspects quickly fled in a car to avoid being identified.

Captain Hitler Ngwenya, the communications officer at the Kliptown Police Station confirmed that the suspects are still at large and that the motivate behind the brutal killing is still unknown.

“The Soweto East Cluster is hard at work searching for leads and information from the public. Nevertheless, the perpetrators of these evil deeds will eventually be found and justice shall prevail,” said Ngwenya.

Police urge anyone with information to come forward and that the public should not act upon what happened without police involvement because the suspects are armed and deemed dangerous.
