Increasing social problems in Klipspruit

Klipspruit residents waiting for a saviour

Democratic Alliance (DA) Premier candidate Solly Msimanga and MMC of Community Development Nonhlanhla Sifumba made their way to Klipspruit West.

The duo, alongside ward councillors Peter Rafferty and Fazel Jaffer held a public meeting at Du Preez place in Klipspruit Extension One and residents were eager to listen to what Msimanga had to say.

Msimanga, who visited Klipspruit West High School, the lowest performing school in Gauteng, at the beginning of year spoke to the residents about ensuring the school produces better results this year.

After the public meeting, Msimanga with Sifumba and the ward councillors proceeded to do door-to-door visits in hopes to not only speak to residents but to physically see the living conditions of the poorest households in the Klipspruit West community.

Residents spoke to the Msimanga about the many challenges they face on a daily basis. Because of the high unemployment rate, many households in the area are run by elderly citizens who are barely able to make ends meet.

Msimanga listened to the people and said that even though change will take time, he is committed to helping the people, whom he feels have been neglected and forgotten.

Youngsters in the community held up posters requesting a decent park and a soccer field. Many parents blame the lack of infrastructure for the rife use of drugs in the community. The DA has said that they are committed to serving the people and ensuring a better South Africa for all.
