Residents still making their way to the voting stations.

Residents in Riverlea came out in their numbers this morning to make their mark in this year’s democratic elections.

Due to the cold winds, many residents from Riverlea did not come as early as 7 am when the voting station opened at the Riverlea Recreation Centre, however, as the hours passed, more and more residents came out to vote.

The queues were not long, residents took up to 10 minutes in the entire voting process and then they were on their way again. Political parties had their community representatives outside of the venue and they were distributing t-shirts to their supporters.

EFF community representatives were also present but refused to be in any photos as they said: “our time to shine will come”.

Residents are still making their way to the voting stations and as the day goes on, officials are expecting there to be long queues.
