Eldorado Park Covid 19 First Responders receive oxygen concentrators
BECOCO celebrates their collaboration with the Eldorado Park Covid 19 First Responders with a handover.
Beloved Community Coalition (BECOCO) handed over two oxygen concentrators to the Eldorado Park Covid 19 First Responders team on January 8. The handover took place at the Caitlin Douman Foundation in Eldorado Park.

Lorraine Jantjies from BECOCO shared that the handover was a celebration of their continued support of Eldorado Park Covid 19 first responders’ team, a partnership that believes that people possess the assets to create change.
“As a token of our continued support and commitment to you as Eldorado Park Covid 19 first response team and with the help of our families and friends in the United States, we were able to raise enough funds to purchase these two machines that we are able to donate to you today. We are honoured to present these highly medically recommended and technologically advanced oxygen concentrator machines to support your course which is relevant, timely and lifesaving,” said Jantjies.
Cheryl Pillay who is leading the Eldorado Park Covid 19 First Responders team expressed that the partnership is such an honour and privilege. She added: “I am always humbled and honoured when people come and buy into our vision. I would like to thank the team. I am wearing a t-shirt that says ‘we are stronger together’ because we are not one non-governmental organisation (NGO) but we are many NGOs in Eldorado Park doing this as a collaboration.”
Pillay explained that in 2020 their focus was on providing food to the families. 2021 the focused changed and they had to get oxygen for those in need. “An ambulance can take anything from three to six hours to arrive in our community so what happens with covid emergencies this is why we started the team,” she shared.
The handover was also celebrated with closing of cutting cake and sharing it with everyone who attended.
