Kliptown Youth Program loses beloved co-founder Thanduxolo Bezana

The Kliptown community mourns the loss of a man who dedicated 18 years to uplifting its youth.

The community of Kliptown is mourning the loss of Thanduxolo Bezana, co-founder of the Kliptown Youth Programme (KYP), who passed away on 28 August.

The news was confirmed by KYP assistant marketing and communications officer, Lizzy Makutu.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved KYP co-founder, stakeholders’ manager, and dedicated member of our management team, Bezana,” the organisation shared on its Facebook page.

Thanduxolo Bezana connected international art lovers with local art studios in Kliptown.

Bezana was a pillar of the community, dedicating 18 years to KYP—not only as a founder and manager but also as a performing arts director.

“His leadership, passion, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting mark on KYP and the community he so dearly loved.”

“His presence will continue to be felt, and he will be missed deeply by all of us.”

The cause of his passing has not been disclosed. Funeral details will be announced in due course.
