The court sat for what was expected to be the bail application of both the accused- in a full courtroom with both families present for the first time after they laid the boys to rest over a week ago.

The pair is charged with two counts of murder, kidnapping, perjury, and defeating the ends of justice in the case related to Tshiamo Rabanye (6) and Nqobizitha Zulu (5).

50 year old Ndlovu who is the grandmother to Tshiamo Rabanye had previously indicated that she wanted to apply for private attorney, however on Friday she revealed that she had now opted for state attorney.

The lawyer asked for the case to be postponed to this week on May 12 so the legal application for accused two could be processed.

Meanwhile, chaotic scenes unfolded outside as residents demanded to gain access to the court proceedings.

Among those who sat in the courtroom was Mandlankosi Mncwango, father of Ayabonga Mncwango, the third victim who escaped from the kidnapping. He said he wanted to see the alleged suspects with his own eyes.

“We feel better even though it still hurts, but we are happy that they have been found.

“What we saw today, seeing them laughing and smiling tells us that they do not have any remorse for their actions,” Mncwango told Urban News.

“My son attended the funeral, so he could see that his friends were really gone. He told us that he missed them but he is trying to cope, getting on with his normal routine but there are certain moments where he is reminded of the ordeal.”

“Both accused face charges of a serious nature. Investigations are not yet complete. Work still continues. We are still awaiting DNA results among other things that we are currently busy with.

“Once investigations are conducted, we will decide whether the matter will be heard in the high court or the local court which is up to the office of the directory of the NPA.”

Mjondongwana believes the state has a strong case against the pair.

“We do have overwhelming evidence against both accused.

“But we will wait for investigations to continue and see what they will reveal. At this point we cannot rule out if the state will be adding further charges,” she added.

Both the accused remain in custody.
