Brutal Lenasia South attack leaves man dead, woman raped

A 20-year-old man was shot multiple times and his girlfriend raped during a brutal attack near a garage on K43 Road in Lenasia South. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

The Lenasia South SAPS is investigating a murder and rape which happened near a garage on K43 Road.

According to the SAPS, officers responded to a shooting complaint and found a VW Golf parked in an open veld.

Inside, they discovered the body of a Protea South man, half-naked and slumped in the driver’s seat with seven gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.

The victim’s girlfriend told the police they were sitting in the car when an unknown man approached from the passenger side and started shooting, instantly killing her boyfriend.

The man then allegedly pulled her out of the vehicle and raped her twice without using protection.

She described the attacker as tall, speaking Northern Sotho (Sepedi) and wearing a black jersey and black pants while carrying a grey school bag.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Anthony Kholo said officers found three spent cartridges and one live round at the scene.

The man fled with both victims’ cellphones.

The body was taken to the Sebokeng Mortuary after forensic teams processed the scene.

The Lenasia South SAPS has opened cases of murder and rape, and investigations are ongoing.
