Suspect caught wearing Traffic Warden vest in Eldorado Park
A routine patrol led to the arrest of a man pretending to be a Traffic Warden.
A 24-year-old man was arrested for possession of government property and impersonating a Gauteng Traffic Police officer at Old Eldorado Park on December 1.
The Eldorado Park SAPS’ Tracing Unit apprehended the suspect at about 21:00.
According to media liaison officer Sergeant Fezeka Khobo, police spotted the man during routine patrols on Toermalyn Street.
He was wearing a mask and a Gauteng Traffic Warden bulletproof vest.
“Members stopped and questioned the suspect, who admitted that he is not a warden. He claimed his aunt, who is a Traffic Warden, gave him the vest. However, his aunt denied lending it to him,” said Khobo.
“The suspect was ultimately arrested for impersonation and possession of government property. He is being detained at Eldorado Park Station for further investigation.”
