Eldos Taxi Association honours seniors with a free trip to the zoo

The association catered to the taxi owners whose vehicles were used and plans to transport a larger group of 300 elderly citizens on October 23.

Celebrating Transport and Senior Citizens’ Month, the Eldos Taxi Association generously provided free transportation to 120 senior citizens from Eldorado Park and Freedom Park, enabling them to enjoy a day of leisure at Joburg Zoo, on October 17.

This complimentary service was in response to Joburg Zoo’s invitation to host senior citizens for free throughout October.

De oumas and oupas gathered at Eldos Taxi Rank, eager to spend their day with fellow club members and make new friends while enjoying the view of animals.

Suraya Smith, speaking on behalf of the group, expressed her gratitude to the taxi association and the zoo.

“As people who rarely get to go out, this day has been a true blessing. The camaraderie, delicious snacks, and stress-free environment made it an unforgettable experience.”

Cornish Digale, JSSTA Eldos Taxi Rank’s public relations officer, shared that they transported 60 passengers from each area and were pleased with the response to their Facebook invitation.

Digale noted that the programme was a selfless gesture to thank senior citizens for caring for their grandchildren and they use our transport when they go to collect their pensioner’s grant.

“Unfortunately, seats are fully booked. But we plan on doing this an annual event, even if the zoo does not give out free tickets we will see what we can do for them,” Digale added.
