Gideon Jansen van Rensburg, CEO of Hyundai SA said it is a special occasion for them to hand over a library to a local community in hope to see a change in the lives of thousands of people that will use the facility in years to come.

“We value the community, we value people, we value children and we want to give them an opportunity to learn to read because if you can read then you can understand and make a future for your life, but if you can’t read with comprehension you can’t develop yourself.

“Our dream and goal is to make sure that every kid in South Africa must be able to read in comprehension and understand so as to build a bright future and leave a lasting legacy in our society,’’ he said.

Lavela Secondary School principal Neo Sithole thanked all the stakeholders that contributed in making the day possible and has pledged to use the library effectively and efficiently so as to deliver good results.

“We are very grateful and thankful and we promise to take care of our library and we also promise to use it in order to get good results. We are going to try our best to protect it and look after it.

“We are going to use the resource centre to improve our literacy. A lot will be done in that library,’’ said Sithole.

RCL president at the school, Zamathole Mncube said the library will play a crucial role in helping them prepare for their final examinations.

“As we approach our final examinations, the learning center will be extremely helpful to us in our studies. In my opinion, this place will serve as a platform where we are inspired to study more and harder,’’ said Mncube..
