Foreign man wanted for rape and murder of girl (6) in Orlando

The residents of Orlando East Ward 31 were left in trauma after a Mozambican man (24) allegedly raped and strangled Amantle Samane (6) to death on October 21.

According to the information that is currently at our disposal, Samane was playing with her friends in the streets when the alleged suspect lured her to the shack that he is currently renting in the area.

The owner of the yard that the incident took place, Thabo Kekana said the suspect has been their tenant for four months now and they are traumatised by the incident.

“I was not home when the incident took place but three young men informed me that they saw him walk into his shack with a young girl and was suspicious of why he bought an unknown young girl in the shack.

“When I went to look in the shack through the window I discovered the little girl laying unconscious on the floor, we then took an object to open the door but the suspect was not there,” Kekana said.

He added that after searching for him the whole yard they then discovered that he had fled.

Ward 31 Cllr, Bongane Dlamini said that is it confirmed that the suspect is a Mozambican national and what has happened really left the residents in dismay and they want the suspect to be apprehended before the community finds him themselves.

“The morning after the incident happened he called his Mozambican girlfriend who is also the mother of his newborn baby and recently traveled from Mozambique to South African to come and introduce a newborn baby to the suspect as he left Mozambique to South Africa excepting a child.

“The communication between the him and the girlfriend was made using his friends cellphone since he doesn’t have one, we tried to trace the number he used but its now off,” Cllr Dlamini said.

He added that according to the suspects girlfriend it was not the first time he attempted such a horrific ordeal.

”He once tried to rape a young girl in their country and his girlfriend walked in on him before he could proceed. The family of Samane and Kekana are really traumatised by the indent. However, late last year another Mozambican national who was sick passed away in the same yard that Samane’s suspect was renting.

“It seems as if foreigners are coming in the country without documents and our own residents are giving them places to stay while they are undocumented which is a challenge on its own.

“We are going to speak to residents who are landlords and urge them to have documents of their tenants before they allow them a place to stay.”

“We really hoping that residents assist the Samane family to find closure as they about to burry their child. We are waiting for them to confirm where the burial will be, it could be in Orlando or at their home in the North West. Our hope lays with Orlando Police to apprehend the suspect.”

The suspect is still on the run and SAPS published his image on their Facebook page urging residents to assist them to located him.
