Raped and killed child of Orlando laid to rest
Peta Sara Samiao (24) has made appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court for the murder of the child.
The funeral of six-year-old Amantle Samane was held at Orlando Communal Hall on October 31 after she was raped and killed.
The community came in numbers and supported the family.
The atmosphere was sombre. However, they were comforted in worship and kind words about Amantle.
Amantle’s neighbour, Lufuno Mokotla said, “God will remain God in all circumstances. I want to comfort the family with that truth.”
She said she and Amantle had a close relationship and that she was a jolly young girl.

“Rest in peace. Go and be an angel.”

Amantle’s uncle, Mmoloki Samane said, “I am heartbroken because we will not get to see Amantle anymore.
However, I am grateful for the support we have received from all the government departments.” He went on to express the void her death had left them with.
Zion Christian Church rendered items to console the family while the community joined in worship.
Sindi Vuyi, the district director, said, “This past week has been the most difficult.
“We had to deal with a very difficult situation and schools came to a standstill.
“As parents and teachers, we found ourselves having to explain to learners about death and to let them know to be aware of such ordeals.”

She added that children having to run away from men in communities is not normal. She also went on to thank the community of Orlando for holding the fort and making sure that the suspect was arrested.
The speakers shared how they witnessed the jolly and outspoken Amantle and how smart she was.
Dada Morero, the mayor of Johannesburg said, “For the past few months, we have experienced the death of children.
“We need to do a lot of work for our children so they can grow up in safe communities. During our visit on Saturday, we shared the pain with the family.”

“I thank the community of Orlando for making sure that the suspect was caught.
“The suspect will not get bail, we will make sure of that. To the family, I would like to say that God is with you,” said the ward councillor of Orlando East, Bongane Dlamini.
He commended the SAPS for using their resources to make sure the suspect was caught.
The funeral proceeded to Olifantsvlei where Amantle was buried.
