ActionSA calls for investigation into alleged corrupt conduct at Johannesburg Courts

ActionSA urges investigation into Lenasia, Kliptown, and Protea Courts amid alleged corruption and Uber hijacking concerns.

ActionSA has written to the Magistrates Commission requesting an urgent investigation into potentially corrupt conduct at the Lenasia, Kliptown, and Protea Courts in Johannesburg.

This move follows the emergence of a disturbing pattern of repeat offenders being released with ease from these courts.

According to Dereleen James, a member of Parliament the repeated release of repeat offenders, some with up to 10 prior arrests, is a clear indication of a broken justice system.

She said the situation is particularly concerning in light of the ongoing spate of Uber hijackings in surrounding areas, where apprehended suspects are being released almost immediately from these courts.

The party has engaged with both the NPA and SAPS and has been informed that these courts have been flagged for serious concerns.
