The City of Johannesburg Libraries is excited to announce the launch of the third annual MobiReadathon reading competition for high school pupils.

Participants can register online, download PDF stories or read them online and complete quizzes to test their comprehension. Winners will be selected based on their quiz performance and completion time.
It has expanded to multiple provinces, reaching over 1,900 pupils in 2024. This year, even more provinces have joined, offering learners a wider range of stories and languages.
The MobiReadathon is hosted on the City of Johannesburg Library Services’ eLearning website and promotes media literacy through articles and stories on internet safety.
The competition also features African folklore and true accounts from senior citizens.
It has two phases. Phase one, which runs from February 10 to April 25, 2025, is open to high school students nationwide.
Semifinalists will be selected from all participating provinces, and the high school with the highest number of participants will win a provincial prize.
