JMPD officers crashed into a vehicle that had skipped a traffic light. The police vehicle lost control and knocked down the pedestrians.
It was reported that there was another blockage at Orlando West, at the intersection of Klipspruit Valley Road, Khumalo Road and Sofasonke Street. JMPD officers are present at both locations.
Superintendent Xolani Fihla, JMPD spokesperson confirmed that after the accident took place, everything went to a standstill. “The people who were blocking the roads re-opened the roads due to the accident scene.
“Forensics had to investigate as well. Tensions are still high because there are still blockages in Orlando West.’’
Fihla confirmed that they received information about more blockages at Crossroads, Moroka Nancefield and Elias Motsoaledi Roads. Taxis were also vandalised during the incident.
