Couple's disappearance ends in tragedy after bodies found in submerged car.

The bodies of a missing Meadowlands couple were pulled from a submerged Hyundai i10 along Chris Hani Road next to Lakeview Rea Vaya bus station in Mofolo South on February 12, bringing a devastating end to a search that began weeks ago.

Mxolisi Sive and Nomhlanganiso Mpungose were last seen together on February 2 and were reported missing, leaving their families and the community in a state of distress.

Mxolisi Sive and Nomhlanganiso Mpungose, the couple that was reported missing at Moroka and Meadowlands SAPS on February 2, were found dead in Mofolo South on February 12.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, the police were notified by a passerby who spotted the car in the river. The deceased were identified by their families.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and the police have opened an inquest docket to investigate the matter further.

Emergency services and police officials at the scene where the bodies of a missing couple were found in a submerged car.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we appeal to anyone with information to come forward,” said Masondo.
