Peace walk highlights religious freedom
This walk called to protect human rights and religious freedom.
A peace walk in Randburg proved the unity of the New Heaven and New Earth Church of Jesus members and called to protect human rights and religious freedom on Match 15.
The walk began on Bram Fischer Drive, where participants carried banners with messages of solidarity and religious tolerance urging society and policymakers to uphold the fundamental rights of everyone regardless of their faith.
The event brought together faith communities, human rights activists and the public, emphasising the importance of coexistence and the right to worship freely without fear or discrimination.

Xihluke Mabasa, the spokesperson for the church, said, “We are walking today to send a clear message to the government that politics and religion should remain separate and everyone that all people have the right to practice their faith freely without fear or discrimination.”
The event highlighted growing concerns about religious persecution worldwide and the need to separate politics from religion to ensure true freedom of belief.
The church members spoke about human rights related to religion. SA’s constitution enshrines religious freedom because many globally still face persecution for their beliefs.
The event ended with a strong emphasis on the need for continued dialogue, inclusivity and concrete steps towards greater religious tolerance. The participants said it was not just a walk but a movement that seeks lasting change.
