Early childhood development: Minister meets Naledi community
Siviwe Gwarube will discuss the importance of early learning and nurturing young children with families at Naledi Community Hall.
The Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube MP, will join parents, grandparents and caregivers at the Naledi Community Hall on October 11 for an important discussion on Early Childhood Development (ECD).
The session aims to help the community understand what ECD means, why it matters and how everyone can play a role in helping children thrive. The event will also raise awareness about how early learning and nurturing shape a child’s development.
‘It takes a village to raise a child’ will be the theme behind the discussion, highlighting that raising and developing future leaders is a shared responsibility.

Every parent, grandparent, teacher and neighbour plays a vital role in shaping the next generation, and when one child succeeds, the whole community benefits.
Organisations such as Hamba Bamba Funda, which works in local communities to promote ECD, will attend the session to share knowledge and practical guidance.
Research shows that the first five years of a child’s life are the most critical.
