Topi Helminah Mohoasi recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

She was born on March 8, 1926, in Rietz, in the Free State, and was adopted by the Makhubos family. She then relocated from the Free State to Soweto at Mzimhlophe, at the age of 22, where she has been staying.

She said that she is happy because she has made it to 100 years of age and was glad to see her children and grandchildren celebrating with her.

“I was blessed with eight children, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren”, she said.

Sarah Jaca, the third-born daughter, said that her mother always took care of everything and everyone in the house.

“I am so grateful for the love that you have shown us, mother. You taught us to love God. You raised us with good care,” said Jaca.

She added that even at this age, her mother is still strong, and she can still do her laundry and cook her own food.

“My mother is a hard worker; that is why she is still alive today. She always relies on herself for everything.”
