Environmental Day inspires climate action at Soweto school

The day was aimed at raising awareness about climate change and the importance of protecting the environment.

The Nhlanhla Tshabalala Foundation (NTF) successfully commemorated Environmental Day at Emshukantambo Secondary School in Pimville, Soweto on June 5.

Under the theme “A Global Call for Climate Action,” the day was designed to bring awareness on climate change and how communities can protect the environment for the future.

Learners work together in the school garden as part of efforts to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices during the Environmental Day event.

“The choices that we make today will determine the world we leave behind tomorrow. Together we have the power to protect our planet and create lasting change,” said Nhlanhla Tshabalala, founder of NTF.

With the foundations aim of staying committed to empowering, educating and inspiring communities, this was an act to take action for a greener and more sustainable future.

The day brought together learners, educators and environmental stakeholders for a engagement and
knowledge- sharing session where learners became active participants in creating a more sustainable future.

Stakeholders such as Globeleq and P Agricultural Group supported the event through meaningful conversations and knowledge on the environment.

The day ended off with an active participation by all those who attended with planting of plants and trees in the school garden.
