ActionSA fulfils promise to Zola 1 senior citizens

Elderly residents in Zola 1 welcomed ActionSA’s return as the party delivered on its commitment to provide gifts to senior citizens.

OLA 1 – Senior citizens gathered at the Zola 1 Clubhouse on Wednesday, June 11, excited and cheerful as ActionSA returned to fulfil a promise it made two weeks ago to provide gifts to the elderly.

The event formed part of the party’s community outreach programme, aimed at supporting senior citizens and demonstrating its commitment to keeping promises. Each granny who attended received a gift as promised.

Those whose names were not on the register were also accommodated after all registered beneficiaries had received their gifts.

Addressing attendees, ActionSA Regional Chairperson Themba Mabunda expressed his satisfaction at fulfilling the commitment made to the elderly.

“The past two weeks we came and promised our grannies that we’ll do something for them. Indeed, as ActionSA, we came back just to fulfil that promise,” said Mabunda.

He added that the gifts were a gesture of love and appreciation for senior citizens.

“We have given them some goodies to show love to them. This is an indication that once we get into government, we’ll promise and deliver,” he said.

Mabunda said the party’s vision extends beyond a single community, as it seeks to benefit all residents of Johannesburg. He encouraged citizens to give ActionSA an opportunity to lead, assuring them that the city’s residents would benefit from its programmes and commitments.

The programme was led by ActionSA chairperson Vusi Msomi, who highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for young people.

“If the kids have something to do, they will avoid drugs and all other substance abuse,” said Msomi.

He explained that encouraging young people to participate in the democratic process and creating opportunities for them could help address social challenges. According to Msomi, youth empowerment can play a significant role in preventing crime and substance abuse.

Speaking on behalf of the King Alpha Queen Omega Development Organisation (KAQODO), Makhosazana Madise thanked ActionSA for supporting the elderly.

“We thank you as KAQODO for this love you showed and the presents you gave to us,” she said.

Madise expressed hope that the party would continue honouring its commitments should it receive support from voters.

“Every promise you made that if we vote for you, we believe you’ll fulfil. We put our trust in you as ActionSA. We want change in South Africa because we are tired. Don’t play with our votes but please fulfil your promises,” she said.
