Eskom removes more than one million customers from load reduction schedules
More than one million Eskom customers have been removed from load reduction schedules as the power utility continues efforts to improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply.
Eskom says it has made significant progress with its Load Reduction Eradication Programme, removing more than one million customers from load reduction schedules.
According to the power utility, 65% of the 1.69 million customers targeted under the programme have now been removed from load reduction.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said the programme was introduced to address load reduction affecting 23.5% of Eskom’s 7.2 million customer base.

Mokwena said the proportion of customers affected by load reduction has now been reduced to about 8.3%.
Eskom said the progress demonstrates the impact of the programme as it continues to reduce the number of customers subjected to load reduction while improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply in affected communities.
