The programme enrolled 98 learners. Already, 10 learners have secured employment, while others are pursuing business and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Phindile Maluleke from Freedom Park said that the programme didn’t just give him a certificate.
“It gave me confidence to open my gym in Freedom Park and create jobs for other youth.”
Phindile added that his goal is to make fitness affordable and accessible right here in Soweto, not only in the suburbs.
At a time when South Africa continues to face high youth unemployment and limited workplace opportunities, the graduation presents a timely story on how skills development partnerships can support young people beyond training and into employment, enterprise development and economic participation.

Zamngwane Morouakgomo from Meadowlands said that she learned that even a household product like washing powder can build a business if you treat it right.
“I want to supply more spaza shops in Meadowlands and help other women start small businesses too,” she said.
The event will also provide a space to build stronger support for graduates who still require access to workplace exposure, internships, employment opportunities, mentorship, business development support and market access.
