Academy FC reaches Stix Morewa finals

Academy FC U11 team qualified for the finals of the Clinics Stix Morewa Soccer Challenge.

Academy FC U11 team qualified for the finals of the Clinics Stix Morewa Soccer Challenge.

This comes after a brilliant performance in the quarterfinals, beating Barcenal FC 1-0 and a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Eldorado Park All Stars in the semi-finals after both teams played to a 1-all draw in regulation time.

The team’s coach, Dira Laka said he is confident that his side will prevail in the finals of this lucrative competition and will bring the trophy home.

He said he has a very strong team that has been winning matches convincingly in the previous games and are ready for the upcoming challenges.

“My players have been showing a great deal of display and I do not see any team stopping us at this moment.

“We have prepared well for this tournament and I worked hard in developing my players this season and hope to produce professional players out of this junior team,” said Laka. Academy started last season on a high note winning the MLFA League without losing a single match.

Laka said that proves that the team is a force to be reckoned with and is ready for the Stix Morewa finals.

He said his coaching skills have helped the team very much after he attended a coaching course held by the Dutch coaches.

“These coaching clinics helped me very much and I advise local coaches to attend these programmes to learn more about coaching,” said Laka.

He said winning the Stix Morewa Challenge will be a blessing for him.
