Athletes share their provincial experience
Louw and Smith hope to represent SA at the Olympics.
Denilson Smith and Robin Louw say their experience at the provincial level of athletics encouraged them to grow.
“This year was the first time since high school that I made it to the provincials, it was a difficult round but I saw where I can improve,” Smith said.
He qualified for the 300m hurdles and came fourth.
Louw qualified for 100m, 150m, and 75m hurdles.
She has been competing in provincials since Grade Five and is now in Grade Seven.
Smith said the experience was challenging but rewarding.
“I made friends with people from different cultures, it’s nice to meet people from other parts of Gauteng,” said Smith.
He encourages youth to take part in sport and stay away from substance abuse.
The pair dreams of becoming professional athletes and representing their country at the Olympics.
They are looking for sponsorships and coaches to assist them to help achieving their dream.
