The Buccaneers celebrate 40 years of soccer in Ndofaya

Soccer is without a doubt the biggest sport in South Africa.

Soccer is without a doubt the biggest sport in South Africa and Orlando Pirates FC is one of the biggest soccer team with a loyal and dedicated fan following.

This was evident during the Orlando Pirates Greater Meadowlands Branch meeting which was held in Meadowlands Zone Two on January 21.

Dressed in Orlando Pirates supporters’ regalia, branch members spoke the same language, which is a sport and the love they have for the team.

The branch does not serve only the purpose of entertainment but also supports their members with social issues like the burial scheme which helps families in mourning take care of the financial strain a sudden death can bring on any family.

According to Michael Moloi, who owns the meeting venue, the branch will be celebrating 40 years in existence this coming July.

He said, “The branch was established for supporters uniting and supporting Orlando Pirates.

“At every meeting members contribute R20, which is used in our recruiting drive to attract more loyal Buccaneer supporters.”

The Meadowlands branch consists of the following executives; chairman Vuyo Mbatha, secretary Linda Nthoane, membership department, Michael Moloi, welfare, Doreen Mulaudzi and communication department, Theo Maphetho.

The branch meets on the third Sunday of every month and all members are required to invite people to join in a bid to grow their membership.
