Emdeni man found dead in veld after alleged violent attack

A violent death has rocked Emdeni after Sivuyile Zingethu was found dead with signs of trauma. Locals say he was last seen allegedly trying to sell a stolen item.

Residents were left reeling in shock following the discovery of the body of 38-year-old Sivuyile Zingethu, found dumped in a veld on July 27.

According to information from the deceased’s mother, Hleziphi Masini, Zingethu’s body was discovered by his friends, who then informed the family.

Masini told Urban News that her son’s body and face appeared to have been severely beaten, with visible bruises and injuries suggesting he may have suffered a violent attack before his death.

“I last saw my son on July 28, in the afternoon. That night, he didn’t come back home. He usually returns late, takes his food from the kitchen, and goes to his room, but that night, he didn’t.

“Around 23:00 his younger brother came to me and said his brother’s plate was still in the kitchen, untouched.

“I didn’t think much of it at the time, assuming he would come back later, especially since it was the weekend,” she said.

According to community members, it is alleged that the deceased was seen earlier on Saturday trying to sell a stolen camera.

The incident was reported to both the community and the rightful owner of the item, who was allegedly the last person seen with Zingethu.

Urban News attempted to obtain an official statement from the police, but no response had been received at the time of publication.
