Fans react to Pirates’ ‘mistake’ on player’s age

Orlando Pirates were accused of hiding the real age of defender Innocent Maela.


Pirates made a mistake when wishing Maela a happy birthday. The club said the player was 32, but later said Maela was 25.

Pirates later tweeted a picture with a message to apologise for the mistake. However, this did not stop the fans from asking if Maela was using his real age or ‘football age’.

Maela defended the club’s tweet and set the record straight about his age.

Pirates later deleted all the tweets related to the ‘mistake’ from their social medial platforms.
