Springs SAPS apprehended a high school pupil for selling 'dagga muffins' to his fellow pupils.

On Wednesday a high school pupil was apprehended by Springs police for selling muffins containing dagga or ‘space muffins’ to fellow pupils.
According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the high school pupil was making muffins with ready made muffin mix and adding the dagga to it.
The learner would then sell the freshly baked muffins for between R1 to R5.
“School pupils who suspected that the muffins contained drugs informed the principal.
“When the principal confronted the learner, he ran away, only to bump into the deputy principal. After questioning the pupil, the school phoned us,” says Capt Ramphora
When the police tested the muffins they found they were positive for Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, the primary chemical found in dagga.
They also tested the pupil, who tested positive for the drug.
“The learner, who is too young to be arrested, was taken into custody.
“It was recommended that the learner attend a drug rehabilitation programme by the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. Once the learner is clean, he will be able to write and finish his mid-year exams,” says Capt Ramphora.
