A man was leaving his house in Commonwealth Road, Selcourt, to go to work, and was surprised to see a silver VW Polo blocking his exit to the street.
According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, three armed men jumped out of the vehicle and pointed firearms at the victim.
“He was still trying to get out of his vehicle, when two of the hijackers pulled him out and started searching him, while the other man took his car keys,” says Capt Ramphora.
One of the hijackers drove off in the Polo, with the other two following in the victim’s car.
Capt Ramphora says the car was recovered in KwaThema by a tracking company and Selcourt CPF members.
No shots were fired.
On Friday morning, the driver of a silver Mercedes Benz was on his way towards Springs on the N17 highway, when a silver Polo flashed its lights at him.
“He pulled off as he assumed there was a problem with his car,” says Capt Ramphora.
It is alleged the driver of the Polo approached the Mercedez, asking for directions to Springs.
Capt Ramphora adds while the victim was helping the man with directions, the man leaned into the car and pulled the car’s keys out of the ignition.
He ordered the victim to get into the back seat, as two more men joined them. They ordered the victim to put his head between his legs.
“Two of the hijackers drove off in the victim’s car, with the third following in the Polo. They dropped the victim off at the Duduza dump site,” says Capt Ramphora.
No shots were fired and no arrests have been made.
