Rythm by the River
Springs Park Rotary Club celebrated their annual Rhythm by the River on the banks of the Blesbokspruit.
Every year Mary Reynolds opens her spectacular garden to the public and the club as part of the club’s fundraising project.
Mary made everyone feel welcome and was walking around taking pictures with her cellphone.
Friends and families gathered in the shade of the trees and others under gazebos with the picnic baskets and cooler boxes, to enjoy the lovely surroundings.
“The beautiful lovely garden, is a must for everyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors. The music is out of this world,” says Riana Broom from Esda Retirement Village.
Riana, her husband John and friends Neil and Joan Callister all agree they will definitely come again next year.
Rotarians Johnny Rothman and Lulu Moutafis manned the gate where visitors had to pay an entrance fee in aid of the club.
“Last year the weather did not play along, this year it was more pleasant,” says Rotarian Ueli Hiller.
John says if he may add his ten cents worth, they are impressed with the surroundings and are grateful that Mary opened up her garden for them.
With the sun moving West, it was directly shining on the Springs Boys’ High School (SBHS) brass band members.
But after their performance, the packed up their musical equipment and some of the school boys decided to test the water in the swimming pool.
Pieter Albert Jordaan and his band took over when the SBHS band left and entertained the crowd with contemporary music.
“I am here to play background music while they are relax on the lawn of this beautiful place,” says Pieter.
The Rotary bar was set up on the left hand side. The service was rendered by the Rotary club and Rotarians Ueli and Vernon Jones were barman.
“This fundraising project takes place in the second half of the year and is a huge success. It helps the club with much needed funds,” says Ueli.
