A hijacking in Myrtle Road, Krugersrus, took place on February 26, at 4am, when a man was on his way to work.
According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora the man was at the main gate of his house when an armed man ordered him to get out of the car.
“The next minute the victim heard a gunshot and noticed another two armed men joining the first hijacker,” said Ramphora.
The victim was forced to accompany the hijackers, leaving the scene in the victim’s VW Golf Chico.
Ramphora added they asked the man for his pin number and after he gave it to them, they dropped him off next to Trade Centre and said ‘run and don’t look back’.
At 8.45am, last Tuesday a woman was driving her black VW Polo in Vlei Street, Casseldale, when she noticed a white VW Polo overtaking.
Ramphora said the woman claimed the driver of the white vehicle reduced speed and stopped.
“The four occupants of the white car got out, one pointed a firearm at her and ordered her to get out of her vehicle,” he said.
They took her car and left.
No shots were fired and no arrests have been made.

Another hijacking took place in Dandazi Road, Selcourt on February 28, at 8.40pm.
A man arrived at home and stopped in front of his gate.
Ramphora said before the man could open his door three men approached him.
“One of the men pionted a gun at him and ordered him to get out of the vehicle,” he said.
They jumped in his red Mercedez Benz and drove off.
Ramphora added the victim saw a sedan following his hijacked car.
The hijackers took his laptop, tablet, cell phone, bank cards and driver’s licence.
No shots were fired.
An armed robbery took place on March 1, in Aquamaryn Street, Dersley.
A man arrived at his home at 4.30am, and parked his vehicle inside his yard.
Ramphora said he was still in his car when an armed man approached him and opened the door at the driver’s side.
“He pointed a gun at the victim and ordered him to get out of his vehicle and to stand still,” said Ramphora.
The armed man went back to the vehicle, took an iPad, two cell phones and ran away.
No shots were fired.

On March 2, a man was found murdered in Mohlanga Street, Gugulethu Everest between 3am and 4am.
The police only arrived on the scene at 6am.
Ramphora said when they arrived they found a man with stab wounds in his head and back, but he was still alive.
The paramedics arrived and declared the man dead.
“While they were treating the wounded man in the ambulance a witness came forward claiming the wounded man had stabbed the deceased,” added Ramphora.
After the Springs police informed the man of his rights and made a verbal arrest, the man was taken to a nearby hospital.
Ramphora said as soon as the man is discharged from hospital he will be taken to the Springs police cells.
