We applaud the mother

In response the the story in last week's Addie "Mom reports teenager's relationship":

Is this the full story because in our experience perpetrators of statutory rape don’t get less than 25 years (life sentence) when a child is involved.

This is a travesty of justice and we would like to know if prosecution just did not give a damn and the magistrate resided over his/her first rape case.

By all accounts the child has no criminal capacity and the adult (49 years of age) should take the full brunt of the law.

We applaud the mother of the child for putting a stop to this and bringing it to the courts attention, however, we wonder if she believes justice was served.
