Men and women clothed in Ekurhuleni T-shirts will visit some homes in Springs in their task of maintaining the municipal valuation roll.
Lebogang Ramashala, spokesman for Ekurhuleni, said the metro had appointed Ndlala Mass Valuations Services to undertake supplementary valuations from February 25. Their contract will end on June 30, 2016.
The contractors are appointed to update the current valuation roll compiled in 2013 and valid until 2017.
They will only go to the houses or places where owners lodged queries on their properties’ valuations on the current valuation roll or where section 78 of the Municipal Properties Rates Act, 2004 had to be applied. This application include instances where properties were incorrectly omitted from the valuation roll, or were included in the municipality or subdivided or consolidated after the last general valuation. This section also includes properties of which the market value had substantially increased or decreased, or where a property was incorrectly valued during the last general valuation or when a property had to be re-valued for any exceptional reason.
These supplementary valuations will also include new townships, newly completed buildings, subdivisions and property consolidations.
Ramashala requested residents to co-operate with the contractors and grant them access to their properties.
They will have identity cards with them with Ekurhuleni Metro’s logo on it, as well as the person’s picture, name, identity number and Ekurhuleni’s valuation unit’s contact numbers.
She advised that residents always had to request to see these identification cards before granting the contractors access into their properties.
The people knocking on your door will also be clothed in T-shirts with the Ekurhuleni logo.
Their operating hours will be from 8am to 5pm on weekdays.
